This position will support Pepperidge Farm Research & Development. The Senior Lab Technician will be responsible for benchtop, pilot plant, and plant-based project support. They will heavily focus on baking with attention to any one of the following product areas: crackers, chips, pretzels, cookies, breads, buns/rolls, and cakes/frozen desserts. Individual will also work in a lab-based setting using applicable analytical testing equipment. They will be responsible for assisting with research, gathering and analyzing data and reporting findings on assignments/projects that are moderately complex. The Senior Lab Technician will perform a variety of duties requiring the application of technical knowledge using established processes/protocols. Independently plans, prioritizes, and executes work; making basic technical decisions independently. Their day-to-day job responsibilities will require them to work in a team environment ensuring alignment with cross functional partners, both internal (Marketing, Quality Assurance, Process Development, Packaging Development, Finance, Operations, and Procurement) and external (vendors/suppliers, Campbell’s, R&D Centers of Excellence, co-manufacturers). They must be knowledgeable about experimental design (DOE), laboratory documentation, and general food science.
Assists with the assessment and validation of formulations from benchtop through commercialization.
Conduct and Maintain Quality Analytical Testing Data for Product Development
Insures all proper documentation is done accurately and on schedule
Supports Product Development Scientists with sandboxing/product ideation, product feasibility testing, plant trials, start-ups, productivity and quality programs.
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with R&D management, scientists, and cross-functional team members.
Apply problem solving skills to identify, interpret and analyze the correct data and provide detailed directions to development projects.
Easily adapts to changing priorities.
Leveraging external suppliers to build knowledge to deliver results
Experience/ Familiarity in using analytical testing for food products
Strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills

Experience with Microsoft Office including formula, data, and graph applications.
Knowledge of Food Safety, Regulatory, and Quality Systems and their application within food processing (bakery).
Understanding of basic food manufacturing processes.
Food Science, Bakery Science, Food Process Engineering, or Chemical Engineering degree with Product Development emphasis. 1+ years of related experience with a consumer-packaged goods background. Experience in a combination of any of the following: Snacks (such as crackers, chips, pretzels, and cookies) and Bakery (such as breads, buns/rolls, and cakes/frozen desserts).
Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to details, self-driven, ability to deal with ambiguity, good communications and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle multiple assignments at any given time in a team environment.
