Mission

To recognize industry leaders and companies in the grain-based food industry for their innovative development and implementation of leading edge products, equipment design and advancements in ingredient technology.

Goals & Objectives

  1. Identify, promote, and reward products that offer significant solutions or new opportunities to the grain-based food industry;
  2. Encourage companies that are involved in the grain-based food industry, along with their partners, and also enhance their exposure;
  3. Contribute to the advancement of the grain-based food industry;
  4. To celebrate, educate, and connect innovators across all sectors of the grain-based food industry.

Innovation Award Entries for 2020 must be submitted in one of the following categories:

Award Category 1: Health, Wellness, and Nutrition

The Innovation Award for Health, Wellness, & Nutrition recognizes those companies that have demonstrated dedication and ongoing contribution to the advancement of bakery products and operations promoting healthy lifestyle.

This includes but is not limited to advancements in:

  • Gain Desirable Nutrients
  • Resistance to Illness/Prevention of Disease
  • Enhance General Well-Being
  • Contributes to Weight Control

Entry Form Questions

Each application will have a section of basic information to be completed about the product, and then a series of free response questions.  The free response questions are as follows:

Answers are limited to 350 words or less.

  1. Please provide a detail description of the product.
  2. Describe its intended use or target customer.
  3. Describe the benefits it provides above and beyond current market offerings
  4. Have the product sales performed to your expectations and what is its anticipated growth?
  5. Describe your company’s commitment to Nutrition, Health and Wellness.  How is your product positioned to increase/improve your company’s health benefits reputation?
  6. Does your product carry endorsements and/or is it recommended by any health professionals?
  7. Describe why your product deserves this award.  Include specifics regarding your product’s unique and/or novel features.

Award Category 2: Eco Design and Sustainable Technologies

This award will be presented to an organization, within the bakery industry, that has developed and implemented an effective environmentally sustainable initiative.  The initiative should demonstrate positive sustainable benefits, along with a clear commitment to enhancement, preservation and protection of the environment.

The Innovation Award for Eco Design and Sustainable Technologies recognizes those companies that have demonstrated dedication and ongoing contribution to the advancement of bakery sustainability and operations.

This includes but is not limited to advancements in the following sustainability areas:

  • Bimimicry (using nature to improve design and impact)
  • Environmental Benefits (Reduction in Energy, Water, Materials)
  • Sustainabe Sources Materials
  • Carbon Reductions (Life cycle Assessment with Environmental Product Declaration)
  • Other (including a sustable service)

  5. Describe your company’s commitment to Sustainability.  How is your product positioned to increase/improve your company’s sustainability benefits reputation?
  6. Describe why your product deserves this award.  Include specifics regarding you product’s unique and/or novel features.

Award Category 3: Operational Excellence

The Innovation Award for Operational Excellence recognizes those companies that have demonstrated continuous improvement, dedication, best practices, creativity, innovation and ongoing contribution to the advancement of bakery production and operations.

This includes but is not limited to advancements in:

  • Equipment design
  • Ingredient formulations or cost management
  • Quality control management
  • Human capital management
  • Other
