The American Society of Baking Mentorship Program fosters inclusion and support the professional growth of individuals at various stages of their careers within the baking industry.
This program aims to bridge the gap between emerging and established professionals through structured mentoring relationships, providing guidance, support, and opportunities to learn and grow within the industry.
Benefits of Mentoring
- Guidance for your personal and professional development in the baking industry from someone with a wealth of experience
- An opportunity to explore issues and concerns in a confidential and supportive relationship
- Satisfaction from contributing back to the industry and making a difference to someone else
- A chance to enrich your interpersonal and leadership skills
Program Goals
- To provide mentees with guidance and support from experienced professionals in the baking industry.
- To offer mentors the opportunity to give back to the community and share their knowledge and skills.
- To enhance the professional growth and development of both mentors and mentees.
- To provide a structured and supportive environment for members to learn, grow, and succeed in their careers.
This program is NOT designed for technical skills mentoring. While it’s built with the baking industry in mind, and technical job experience will be considered for matches, mentors are not expected to take on the role of technical trainers or provide hands-on skills training. Instead, they will focus on guiding mentees in leadership development, career growth, and industry navigation.
What’s Involved?
The ASB Mentoring Program is a 5-month virtual program. During this time, mentors and mentees will be expected to be in contact at least monthly. Mentees and mentors will also be expected to complete the Art of Mentoring online training module to prepare them for their mentoring relationship. The online mentoring platform will provide your mentoring partner’s details, the option to communicate with the Program Manager, and access the training and resources. During the program, you will receive emails giving you helpful tips and information about mentoring and access to other relevant materials available for supporting mentees and mentors.
To participate, you must be involved with the baking industry and a professional member of ASB.
