Ernst Pyler

Born in Didikon, Switzerland, Ernie emigrated to the United States in 1929.  He completed his education and joined the staff of Baker’s Digest in 1936.  Two years later he became the editor.  In 1952, the first edition of his textbook baking science and technology was published.  The text remains today the authoritative source in several university level programs in baking science worldwide.  In 1965, he became co-owner of Siebel Publishing Company and assumed additional responsibilities as technical editor for Brewer’s Digest, a monthly publication of news, science and technology for the brewing industry.  A 55 year member of the American Society of Bakery Engineers, he attended 50 consecutive annual meetings pursuing his goal of serving his peers.
