Welcome to Opportunity.

The American Society of Baking is proud to launch the New Member Scholarship Fund, created to make membership more accessible to the next generation of commercial baking professionals. This initiative is designed to remove financial barriers and connect fresh talent with the insights, networks, and support that define the ASB community.

What the Scholarship Includes

Recipients of the New Member Scholarship will receive:

  • One-Year of ASB Professional Membership (free of charge)
  • Complimentary Registration to BakingTECH, ASB’s annual technical conference
  • Conference Hotel Accommodations for BakingTECH, generously provided through a matching gift from the Jose Lopez Never Stop Foundation
  • Free Access to ASB Regional Meet-Ups
  • Exclusive Opportunities to join ASB committees and member programs
  • NOTE: Travel, non-conference hotel accommodations, and non-sanctioned meals are not included. Specific stipulations apply for the hotel accommodations. Detailed instructions will be provided upon awarding of the scholarship.

Who Should Apply

This scholarship is only open to individuals who:

  • Work full time in the commercial or high-volume retail baking sector and based in North America
  • Hold roles such as production supervisor, R&D technologist, lab technician, engineer, quality control lead, or other operational positions

What’s Expected of Recipients

To help build lasting engagement within ASB, scholarship recipients must:

  • Attend BakingTECH within 12 months of receiving the award
  • Participate on at least one ASB committee, through virtual and/or in-person meetings
  • Join the New Member Reception at BakingTECH
  • OPTIONAL: Receive a 15% discount on second-year membership by recruiting a new member from a company not currently involved in ASB

Every contribution creates opportunities for growth, connection, and meaningful change within our industry. All donations are placed in a dedicated fund awarded by the ASB Selection Committee.

Donations to the New Member Scholarships are excluded from sponsorship investments and do not count toward sponsorship level.
